The Columbia Volleyball Club Falcons (12-U) claim their pot of Gold (Medal) at the NVVA 12’s Spring Fling Tournament in Sterling, VA on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

 
Fourteen (14) teams competed from Maryland, Virginia and DC. The Falcon’s battled hard losing only 1 game the entire day in pool play. They went on to the gold bracket for playoffs and won their first set of games against MVSA 12 Firecrackers. The Falcons then advanced to the finals defeating FRDJR claiming the Gold Medal and earning a place among the top teams in the CHRVA Region.

It’s another Gold Medal for the CVC 12U Falcons who placed first out of eight teams in the Columbia 12’s Invite Open Tournament in North Laurel, Maryland on March 7, 2015. Falcons were undefeated the entire day!

CVC Players Win “BEST” Awards at the Capitol Hill Classic

Two CVC players were recently named “BEST BLOCKER” and “BEST SETTER” at the Capitol Hill Classic in Washington DC over the Presidents Day Weekend.

Saadia Sahadeo of the 16U Lightning, a Junior at Northwood High School, won Best Blocker in the 16U Patriot Division. Saadia, pictured above with her coach Michael Rainbow, helped her team finish with a strong showing in the Gold Bracket of the newly-formed Patriot Division.

Brenna O’Reilly of the 12U Falcons, a student at St. Louis School, won Best Setter in the 12U Division while helping lead her team to a 3rd place finish in the Gold Bracket.

12U Falcons Lead the Way for CVC at the Capitol Hill Classic

Columbia Volleyball Club has been participating in the Capitol Hill Classic since its beginnings 9 years ago, and for the first time all CVC teams participated in the event where more than 850 teams competed over the Presidents Day Weekend in Washington DC. The tournament, hosted by Metro Atlantic Volleyball Club, has grown tremendously over the years and now has a qualifier-like feel to it as teams come from all over the country to compete with team from the CHRVA region.

The 12U Falcons had an outstanding weekend, finishing with the Bronze Medal by finishing third in the Gold Bracket for the 12U division. The Falcons finished with a 6-2 match record, falling in the semi-final to the eventual division champion.

The 16U Lightning also had a strong weekend with a 5-2 Match record, finishing in the Gold Bracket of the newly-formed Patriot division.

The 17U Eclipse started strong on Saturday and finished up in the Silver bracket of the Patriot division with a 9-6 (60%) set record

Other results from the Capitol Hill Classic:

12U Owls – Finished strong with taking the Flight 4 Bracket, in their first multi-day tournament

13U Hawks – Also playing in their first multi-day tournament, finished strong by taking the Flight 4 Bracket in the Club division

13U Eagles – After a strong 2-1 start on Saturday, finished in the Bronze Bracket in the Open division

14U Cardinals – Many players in their first multi-day tournament, an outstanding 3-0 finish Sunday, finishing in Flight 2A in the Club division

14U Condors – Finished in Flight 2 of the Open division

15U Typhoon – Finished with a strong 6-3 match record, going 3-0 on Saturday and finishing in the Bronze C bracket of the Club division

15U Storm – Finished in Flight 1 of the Open division

16U Thunder – Outstanding 7-1 match record, won Flight 2C of the Club division

 18U Comets – After an outstanding 3-0 Sunday, finished in Flight 1B of the Open Division
