It’s hard to believe, but the CVC 18U Comets participated in their last tournament this past weekend in Lancaster, PA. Competing in the AAU Middle Atlantic Grand Prix with a fourth place finish for the team (out of 25 teams) was a fun and exciting end to a successful club season.
The Comets will be celebrating with a CVC Recognition Night this week to congratulate Coaches Michael Rainbow, Monica Owensby, and Ed Benish, as well as wishing our 9 High School Seniors the best as they prepare for graduation and playing at the collegiate level.
Eight CVC teams made the trip to Roanoke, VA to compete in the 2016 Shamrock Volleyball Festival and the results were very strong as teams prepare for NEQs in Philadelphia and Regionals in April. With 90 teams in both the 18U and 16U Divisions, and 64 teams in the 14U division, CVC teams made quite an impact:
18U Comets finished 2nd in the Gold Medal Bracket
17U Eclipse Won the Silver Bracket
17U Stars finished in the 1st round of the Copper Bracket
16U Lightning finished 2nd in the Gold Medal Bracket
16U Thunder finished in the Semi-Finals of the Silver Bracket
15U Storm finished in the Semi-Finals of the Bronze Bracket
15U Typhoon finished in the Semi-Finals of the Diamond Bracket
14U Condors finished in the Quarter-Finals of the Gold Bracket
It took more than luck for the CVC 18U Comets to capture 2nd out of 90 teams in the Gold Division at the Shamrock Volleyball Festival in Roanoke, VA. The Comets were undefeated through seven matches, taking each of those wins without having to play a third set. Playoff competition was fierce and the team battled to secure a spot in the final match against Charlottesville Area Volleyball Club’s 18s. Congrats Coaches and Players on finishing the weekend 19-4 sets!
CVC 18U Comets traveled North to Boston to compete in the 2016 Mizuno Boston Volleyball Festival. The Comets finished 4th out of 36 teams in the competitive 18 USA division, falling in the Semi-Finals of the Gold Bracket. Great job Comets!
In their first tournament of the season, the Comets made it to semi-final play in the Open Division of the MLK Classic. Congratulations to Coaches Michael Rainbow, Monica Owensby, and Ed Benish on leading the team to a third place finish out of 39 teams! The players are excited to have such a strong start to the year. GO COMETS!
